Organization Background

SAATHII is a non-profit organization (NGO) that works to strengthen and expand sexual, reproductive, maternal and child health and legal aid services for HIV-affected and other vulnerable communities in India. Headquartered in Chennai, with offices in nine states of the country, SAATHII works in partnership with local authorities, civil society groups and communities marginalized on account of HIV and gender/sexuality to strengthen service provision, uptake and quality, and advocate for access to health, education, social protection, and justice.

About the Project

SAATHII has been selected as a sub-awardee for the USAID-supported MOMENTUM- Safe Surgery in Family Planning and Obstetrics – a global project being implemented by Engender Health. The project seeks to sustainably support the Government of India (GoI) in strengthening surgical safety within family planning and obstetric care, by promoting evidence-based approaches and testing innovations.

SAATHII will act as the key technical agency working toward enhancing the capacity of primary healthcare facilities to provide emergency COVID-19 management (focus on new-borns, adolescents, women in the reproductive age group) across the six states of Assam, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha. SAATHII will support the implementation agencies in rollout of training, developing supportive supervision tools, in supportive supervision, quality assessment, data analysis and documentation of good practices and lessons learned.

Further, SAATHII will act as an implementation agency for additional components that are part of the project and include apart from the above component, strengthening mechanisms to preventing, identifying, and responding to gender-based violence (GBV) at the community and health facility levels, and providing psychosocial support to frontline health workers providing COVID care across twelve districts in Assam, Karnataka, and Odisha. The project will be implemented over an 18-month period.

SAATHII seeks one full-time M&E and Documentation Officer based in Guwahati.

Project Duration: 8 months

Reporting to: State Program Specialist

Specific Responsibilities

M&E

• Assist in developing data collection tools and formats in close coordination with the National M&E and Documentation Specialist.
• Ensure M&E indicators for the project are uniformly communicated to all project staff.
• Compile M&E data, ensure correct data is captured at the district and state level and timely reporting requirements are met.
• Verify all the MIS related documents.
• Assist in conducting good practices documentation as and when needed.
• Coordinate with National M&E and Documentation Specialist for data management (verification, safe storing and analysis of project related data).
• Assist the State Program Specialist in other activities as and when required.

Person Specification:

Required experience/skills/qualities:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Demographics, Business Administration, Economics or any other relevant field.
• At least 5 years of experience in the design and implementation of M&E/MIS in development projects implemented by national/international NGOs/UN bodies/ Government;
• Expertise with MS-Excel
• Knowledge of software packages such as STATA/SPSS would be desirable;

Qualification and Skills:

• Willingness to travel extensively to all the project implementation district and support administrative arrangements for implementation of field activities.
• Ability to work independently and as a team player in a complex, multicultural environment
• Ability to write and speak fluently in English and knowledge of Assamese is essential.
• Ability to carry out tasks and responsibilities in an efficient and timely manner.
• Track record of being a team player, high integrity, ability to deal with multiple tasks, flexibility and timely completion of critical tasks
