![]() JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION : Sr. Manager REPORTS TO: Team Lead LEVEL/GRADE: Sr.Manager JOB SUMMARY: ACCESS Development Services is a national livelihoods promotion organization with focus on incubating innovations and sustainable models for livelihoods promotion of the poor . To this end, ACCESS is structured uniquely to work at all levels of the value chain – implementing programmes on the ground(Tier-I), working with Civil Society organizations, Government Departments, Corporate sector, and Multilateral / Bilateral agencies(Tier II) as also undertaking a few national initiatives to influence and support policy initiatives and strengthening the enabling environment(Tier III). Tier III initiatives of ACCESS are national in their orientation and seek to inform and influence policy, bring key issues and challenges for discussions on a national platform, build sectoral consensus and provide avenues of sharing experiences. ACCESS has introduced since 2008 the idea of annually organizing the Livelihoods India Initiative. This is a national platform on livelihoods with its own specific sub – initiatives to allow for a holistic discussion of key challenges faced by the sector in livelihoods promotion of the poor. The fundamental idea behind this initiative is to bring together and discuss key experiences and issues faced by livelihoods promoting agencies. The sub-initiatives in the orbit of the Livelihoods India platform comprise of the Livelihoods India Conference, the State of India’s Livelihoods (SOIL) Report, the Sitaram Rao Livelihoods India Case Study Competition and Thematic Livelihoods Retreats. Under the proposed MANDI programme, ACCESS plans to reach out to 50,000 farmers in 5-7 districts of Assam across various identified commodities through strategic partnerships with select NGOs and umbrella organisations who have promoted FPOs in the state. Under the MANDI programme, capacities of partner organisations will be built in better FPO management, and a professional cadre will be created for handholding FPOs promoted by them. The NGOs will be provided with structured technical assistance and capacity building inputs through well-designed FPO Management modules, that ACCESS will develop across relevant thematic areas. Based on the crops identified, efforts will also be made on productivity enhancement at the farmer level through improved Package of Practices. Through MANDI, ACCESS will aspire to make Assam as a hub for excellence in FPO promotion. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : ACCESS Development Services is currently looking to hire an experienced Project Manager to lead the exciting MANDI project by managing internal and external stakeholders, mentoring the field teams in achieving their goals and expanding the scope of the project by building required partnerships. Broadly, the incumbent will be responsible for managing the following key activities: • Identify and select FPO promoting umbrella and non-government organisations • Select FPOs promoted by partner organisations to be included under the project • Guide and mentor field teams for strengthening the FPOs • Undertake training activities on the field, with support from in-house and empaneled trainers, to build capacities of FPOs • Facilitate backward and forward linkages for making the FPOs sustainable • Facilitate financial linkages with Financial Institutions • Conduct regular field visits to guide field teams and monitor project progress • Work closely with project marketing manager to develop market linkages (online and offline) for identified commodities • Regularly interact with the donor to keep them updated about the project and share developments in the field • Ensure timely submission of reports to the donor PERSON SPECIFICATION (define the skills & competencies required – refer to competencies stated in APA process; qualifications and experience required to carry out activities outlined in the job description) SKILLS & COMPETENCIES: • Post Graduate in Agriculture / Agribusiness/ Rural Management/ Social Work (full-time) • Experience in managing large / diverse teams, donor / stakeholder management • Excellent interpersonal, communications, public speaking, and presentation skills EDUCATION & QUALIFICATION: • A post graduate degree in Rural Development from a reputed institute with atleast 8 years of experience, of which atleast 5 years must be in promoting/ strengthening Farmer Producer Organisations COMPENSATION: Salary range in this position is commensurate to industry standards and will be determined based upon experience and fixed as per the HR policies of the organization.
