Since its inception JVS has been working for the integral development of the marginalized and underprivileged sections of the society, particularly of women, children, scheduled caste, scheduled tribe and persons with disabilities. Currently, JVS is directly implementing programs on Women Empowerment, Community Health, WASH, Livelihood promotion for Women, Skill Training for Youth etc. JVS also had been implementing a project on Community Based Inclusive Development of Children and Youngsters with Disabilities in partnership with over 60 local organizations in North and Northeast India for the past two decades. Over the years, JVS has been engaged in creating an inclusive environment by enabling the poor and marginalized communities to have access to education, employment and equal rights. We believe that quality education for poor children, skill development of youth and livelihood opportunities for rural women can empower people and create a more equitable society. Job Aims: The Lead Program-Disability Inclusive Development has major responsibility for devising and leading the organization’s work on issues and concerns related to Children and Youngsters with Disabilities including program planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Responsibilities: • To plan, implement, monitor and evaluate the program on Community Based Inclusive Development in North & North East India. • To lesion with stakeholders to ensure the timely and effective implementation of the yearly plan and to add on new and innovative programs and strategies for better justice delivery for persons with disabilities and community ownership for a better society. • To work in close coordination with other team members, like-minded local, regional and national organizations, and government institutions and departments for the realization of the broader objective – all-inclusive society. • To plan and organize local, regional and national consultations, workshops, trainings, campaigns and other events to promote skills of persons with disabilities and their representative organizations for ensuring disability rights at all levels. • To coordinate and network with local organizations in the field of disability to draw up plans for better implementation of disability policies and schemes and to push for rights to protect the dignity of persons with disabilities. • To be ever ready to undertake any initiatives and assignments and to go an extra mile to achieve the objectives of the organization and the overall development of persons with disabilities. General Responsibilities: • Ensure that the work is carried out at all times with the utmost privacy, sincerity and confidentiality in accordance with the terms and conditions of employment. • Represent the organization whenever necessary and asked for at meetings and events. • Commit to promoting equality in terms of race, gender, culture, sexual orientation, and disability to prevent and challenge discrimination at all levels. • To go out of the way to help out colleagues for the greater good of the organizations, its values and objectives. Candidate Eligibility: • Minimum of a university degree in Special B.Ed, Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy. • Work experience with non-government organizations in disability sector and in Community Based Inclusive development at for 3 to 5 years. • Excellent oral/written communication skills in Hindi and English.
