Presently CINI reaches to 7 million marginalized rural and urban populations in West Bengal, Jharkhand, Assam and Odisha. Designation : Environment Specialist Location : CINI Head Office, Pailan, Kolkata Period of contract : 1 year with probation of 6 months Qualifications and experience: a) Education: A Master’s degree from a recognized University in Environmental science/Environmental application /any social sciences. b) Work Experience: Minimum 10 years of work experience in the relevant field of environment, climate change and related areas. Professional work experience in a technical expert position in environment and climate change areas will be an asset. c) Languages: Fluency and proficiency in English, Hindi and Bengali is required. Knowledge of regional north-eastern languages will be an asset. d) Other Skills and Attributes: • Proven ability to conceptualize, develop, plan and manage programmes as well as to transfer knowledge and skills. • Supervisory and managerial skills; proven ability to lead a team. • Good conceptual and analytical abilities. • Communication skills to advocate, negotiate and promote to equity, social inclusion • Ability to network and develop alliances in support of organization’s aims. • Good writing skills with special focus on documentation and resource creation. • Ability to work in a team and with diverse group is essential. Job Responsibilities : Key roles and expectations: 1. Strategic Planning, Programme Development and Monitoring: • Provide technical guidance in developing strategic directions and priorities in Environment and climate Change area • Establishing the system of framing of Annual Work Plan, intervention strategies, setting priorities/targets and performance measurement of the environment and Climate change work of CINI in accordance to achieve the goal of 5 years • Provide support in designing a comprehensive programme in compliance to overall strategic direction of CINI on Environment and Climate Change within the overall framework of The CINI Method • Design guidelines, tools and checklist on Environment and Climate Change programmes to integrate climate change index within the existing programmes of CINI • Provide coordination and technical support in ensuring proper delivery and quality assurance of the programmes in the area of Environment and Climate Change • Plan and/or provide technical assistance to the team in the preparation/design and revision of projects in the area of environment and climate change • Keep abreast of national/regional/international development priorities and programmes 2. Documentation, knowledge management and capacity building: • Promote critical thinking and innovative approaches and good practices for Environment and Climate Change interventions • Keep abreast, research, benchmark, introduce and implement best and cutting edge practices in the sector. • Capture the learning, innovation and good practices from the implementation sites to show case in various networking, advocacy and policy influencing platforms • Institutionalise and disseminate best practices and knowledge learned internally and externally. • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures and introduce innovation and best practices to ensure optimum efficiency and efficacy of sustainable programs and projects. • Support in creating Resource kit (SBCC, IEC materials, Training Manual ) • Organise/plan/implement capacity building initiatives to enhance the competencies of the team 3. Advocacy, networking and partnership building: • Build and strengthen strategic partnerships through networking and advocacy with local/national governments, UN agency, donors, internationally recognized institutions, NGOs, funding organizations, research institutes and private sector to pursue opportunities to promote goals and achieve sustainable and broad results for environment and Climate Change work in CINI • Prepare policy papers, briefs and other strategic programme materials for management use, information and consideration. 4.
