Project Details USAID Advancing Nutrition is the Agency’s flagship nutrition project, led by JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI), and a diverse group of experienced partners. Launched in September 2018, USAID Advancing Nutrition implements and provides technical support to nutrition interventions across sectors and disciplines for USAID and its partners. The project’s multi-sectoral approach draws together global nutrition experience to design, implement and evaluate programs that address the root causes of malnutrition. Committed to using a systems approach, USAID Advancing Nutrition strives to sustain positive outcomes by building local capacity, supporting behavior change and strengthening the enabling environment to save lives, improve health, build resilience, increase economic productivity and advance development. In India, USAID Advancing Nutrition Project aims, through nutrition sensitive approaches, to directly reach at least 50,000 women, adolescent girls, and children from socio-economically disadvantaged families that have been negatively impacted by COVID-19 in Assam State. Beyond that, knowing that women play a key role in nutrition, the project hopes to support the empowerment of rural women to increase their access to economic opportunities. Finally, being a multi-sectoral nutrition project, it will promote partnerships with the government and private sector to ensure broad buy-in and sustainability. This partnership effort will also extend into establishing a community of practice, or learning platform, for the exchange of knowledge and best practices around nutrition-sensitive agriculture approaches to improving diets and nutrition. Purpose of the Assignment: JSIPL, under project USAID Advancing Nutrition, is seeking to hire a part-time consultant who, under the guidance of Project Director, will conceptualize, design and create the advocacy materials, documentation of success stories, process documentation and project reporting. The consultant will work closely with the project team in Assam to finalize the materials. Wherever required, the consultant will work closely with the graphic designer (to be identified by JSIPL) to convert all the content into print-ready outputs. Scope of Work: Task 1: To design, develop and draft 8 short stories of 2-3 pages from the project intervention areas. Task 2: Develop the content for a four-pager handout/ brochure, strategically illustrating notable achievements and innovations of the USAID Advancing Nutrition Project. Task 3: Preparation and publication of at least 3 press releases for publishing in leading national and regional newspapers and ensuring media participation in state level events of the project. Task 4: Support the project team in editing the quarterly, project closure and other project reports. A planning meeting on this assignment will be held in Guwahati in December 2022 to plan out the details. Field travel required to three project districts as per the need. The project districts are Tinsukia, Barpeta and Goalpara in Assam Travel arrangements will be done as per JSIPL travel policy. Consent of the beneficiary, if any required, will be obtained by the project team. Any other activities as part of this assignment will be taken in discussion with the Project Director. The scope of the agreement will be modified/appended accordingly. Any product/deliverables created under this agreement will have JSIPL and USAID branding guidelines. The guidelines will be shared in the beginning of the assignment. Qualification and Skills required: Graduate/Post Graduate in English/ Mass Communication/ Media Studies/ social work or similar fields is required. At least 5 years of relevant technical knowledge, skills and extensive work experience in project documentation with development sector or like-minded organizations. Excellent command over English language (written and verbal) with effective communication skills & experience in projects of a similar nature. Experience in providing similar consultancy and excellent track record of completion of tasks according to timelines. Freelancer who would be able to commit a few work days every month. Experience of working in Assam and understanding of Assamese is preferable. Experience both in print and digital media. Ability to understand the project dynamics, work independently or least supervision to deliver high-quality and creative project documentation within predefined timelines.
