Required Eligibility:
A candidate seeking admission to the course for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) shall have to obtain at least 55% marks in Master’s Degree OR equivalent Grade point. Relaxation upto 5% marks may be availed by the candidates belonging to the reserved categories. All applicants seeking admission to the Doctoral programme of the University [except foreign students applying for admission as provided for under clause 9] must clear the Dibrugarh University Research Admission Test (DURAT).
The candidates who have qualified the UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGCCSIR NET (including JRF)/SLET/GATE/teacher fellowship holder or have passed M.Phil programme (in regular mode and in the concerned subject) are exempted from appearing the DURAT. However, these candidates have to apply for admission as per the University Notification. These candidates have to appear a viva-voce/ interview for getting selection for admission. Not more than 50% of the seats in the subject concerned shall be filled up by the candidates, who are exempted from appearing the DURAT as per the provisions above.
A candidate may also be enrolled if he /she has any other degree recognised as equivalent to the Master’s Degree in the subject in which the candidate wishes to pursue a course of research, provided the candidate fulfills the conditions above.
Under special circumstances, a candidate may be allowed by the Research Council to undertake research in a subject other than one in which he/ she has obtained Master’s Degree. Before permitting the candidate to do so, the Council shall satisfy itself that the branches are inter-related and /or the candidate is competent to undertake research in the particular subject as evidenced by published/practical works.
A candidate with a B.E./B.Tech Degree with a valid JRF-GATE score may also be considered for admission to the Ph.D. programme.
How to Apply for Dibrugarh University Phd Admission 2023
Students who are willing to pursue Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programme under Dibrugarh University need to apply online for DURAT 2023. The candidates need to visit the DURAT Portal given in the website www.dibru.ac.in to apply online for Dibrugarh University Phd Admission. Candidates are advised to follow the following procedure
- The candidate shall be required to register in the DURAT Portal given in the websitewww.dibru.ac.in by entering Full Name, Password and a Mobile Number. The candidate will get an OTP in the Mobile Number which is to be entered for Activation.
- After Activation, the candidates shall be required to login by entering his/ her Mobile Number and password. The candidate can then apply for appearing in the DURAT by selecting the desired subject
- The applicants shall be required to pay the Application Fee of Rs. 500/- only through the online payment gateway by using Debit (ATM) Card/Credit Card/ Internet Banking during the submission of the online Application Form. No other mode of payment is acceptable.
- The applicants can save and review the information entered before submission, which can be edited on subsequent login. However, after submission, editing of information shall not be possible

DURAT 2023 Selection Procedure
The DURAT shall comprise of two phases-
- Phase I: Written Test (in a single paper for 100 marks) with 70% weightage.
- Phase II: Viva-Voce to be conducted by the Department/ Centre for Studies concerned with 30% weightage.
