Cotton University has published a notification regarding PhD Programme 2022-23 in Cotton University, online Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission in Phd Course as per the Ph.D. Rules and Regulations of the University together with the current UGC regulations for “Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/ PhD Degrees”, in the following Departments/Disciplines within the respective Faculties. Eligibility Criteria for Cotton University PhD Admission
- A Master’s degree or equivalent from a UGC recognised University with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade, in a subject related to the Ph.D. discipline where applying.
- A relaxation of 5% of marks or an equivalent relaxation of grade, from the requirement of (i) above, shall be applicable to candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ 020 Differently-Abled and such other categories as specified in case of admission in an institution under Government of Assam.
- While determining the eligibility of a candidate subject to conditions (i) and (ii) above, grace marks or points awarded in the qualifying examination, if any, shall not be counted.
- Selections will be via a Written Entrance Test of 70 marks followed by Viva-voce of 30 marks, to be held separately for each Department/Discipline. The minimum qualifying marks in the Written Test is 35 for general category and 32 for reserved category candidates. Final selection will be in order of merit based on the total of the marks obtained in the Written Test and Viva-voce.
- Candidates who had cleared NET or SLET in the related discipline within a period of two years preceding the date of this notification may be eligible for a 5 per cent relaxation of qualifying marks in the Written Examination.
- The Written Test questions will be based on the Post Graduate level syllabi of respective subjects in leading Indian Universities. Marks distribution in the question paper will be as per Cotton University PG End-semester examination. Candidates who had cleared NET or SLET in the related discipline within a period of two years preceding the date of this notification may be eligible for a 5 per cent relaxation of qualifying marks in the Written Examination.
- Applicants securing national-level scholarships such as UGC/CSIR Junior Research Fellowship, INSPIRE etc. who score below the qualifying mark in the Written Examination may be allowed to appear in the viva-voce/ interview, up to a maximum of 3 such candidates per subject, with approval of the Vice-Chancellor.
- The number of seats available for each Department/discipline will depend on permissible limits of the research scholars that can be assigned to a Guide and other relevant parameters on the date of viva-voce. The University reserves the right not to fill up any vacant seat if suitable candidates are not found.
- All selected Research Scholars must comply with the conditions of the PhD programme. Attendance of PhD Coursework classes is compulsory for all Research Scholars and one with attendance less than 75% of total classes held in the concerned Department/Faculty shall be debarred from appearing in the PhD Coursework Examination.

How to Apply for Cotton University PhD Programme 2023
Candidates who have matched the above eligibility criteria and interested to enroll the PhD progarmme for 2023 in their respective subjects under Cotton University are requested to apply online through the Cotton University Official Website. The application may only be submitted ONLINE through the University website https://admissions.cottonuniversity.ac.in from 05 January, 2023 onwards.

- Payment of application fee is to be made online through UPI/ Debit/ Credit Card or Net Banking only at the time of filling up the online application form.
