CINI-Jharkhand Job Profile Job Title: Consultant for Fund Raising in Jharkhand Place of Work: CINI State Office, Ranchi, Jharkhand Reports to : Thematic Lead-Health No. of Posts : 01 Project : Health Programme Duration : At least 30 working days spread over six months from May ’23 onwards Introduction Child in Need Institute (CINI) is a national-level award-winning non-profit organization registered in 1974 in West Bengal with state offices in Assam, Odisha and Jharkhand. The organization has been implementing programs as well as is a key technical partner of various government departments to demonstrate models in improving the quality of lives of children, adolescents and women in need. CINI’s core model is based on the CINI method that promotes a rights-based convergence approach which has so far attracted the attention of policymakers and other different actors of the development sector, and which has proven to be an effective design to promote local-level solutions for improving care and protection of Children. Project Overview : The Advocacy and Accountability Collaborative (TAAC) in Jharkhand has been co-established by Child in Need Institute (CINI) with support from Jhpiego and funded by USAID MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership Project. The TAAC Initiative fosters the actualization of SDGs and Universal Health Coverage 2030 promise with a focus on the family planning (FP) and reproductive health (RH) continuum from a health systems lens through advocacy and accountability. The Collaborative has been active since Jan’2022 and has garnered active participation from grass-root level CSOs working around FP and RH initiatives in various districts of Jharkhand. The objective of the Consultancy: The TAAC intervention began its operations in Nov’2021. It is the first of its kind bringing together organizations working in diverse domains with different communities and in different districts of Jharkhand. Each organization is unique in its approach and works towards better health outcomes for the community. But the grass-root CSOs cease to go beyond a certain level due to a lack of resources. The CSOs lack knowledge not only about the probable donors or the potential areas of collaboration but also the required technical skills to develop a proposal. TAAC seeks a Fund-Raising Consultant who will not only identify the probable donors but will also develop proposals on behalf of TAAC / respective CSOs. This will help to generate the much-required momentum to carry forward the good work being done in the community. Job Description: The consultant is expected to do the following tasks: a) Analysing organizational needs and the funding requirements of potential projects. b) Identifying and researching potential funders for projects. c) Writing, editing, and proofreading proposals to ensure quality and accuracy. d) Develop proposals and grant applications in English for various audiences including institutional, family and private foundations vis-à-vis CSR e) Engage with the CSO partners and TAAC core team to understand their perspectives and approaches f) Provide hand-holding support to TAAC partners in proposal writing, networking and leveraging funds. g) Preparing grant budgets, monitoring grant progress, and reporting on grant activities. h) Research and analyse local/global trends and landscape to advance understanding of TAAC’s program areas and thought leadership areas, incorporate into proposals and organizational briefing notes i) Understand and use proposal databases as needed j) Coordinate proposal development in collaboration with respective CSOs including adhering to proposal schedule deadlines Competencies: I. Communication skills in a multi-stakeholder environment II. Understanding of the public health system in Jharkhand III. Good and proven documentation skills including proposal writing IV. Advanced mastery of Microsoft Word and Excel V. Well networked in Jharkhand and preferably based at Ranchi VI. Comfortable working independently and remotely VII. Experience working as a consultant, meeting deliverable timelines, and billing and closing contracts accordingly Expected Travel: Primarily, no travel is foreseen. However, the consultant must be open to undertaking need-based travel Consultancy Fee: Negotiable Qualifications & Experience: • Master’s Degree or equivalent in Social Science, Rural Development, Humanities, Economics, Development Communication • Master’s in public health or any relevant degree in Family Planning will be preferred.
