![]() JOB ANNOUNCEMENT POSITION TITLE: Communication Specialist (Consultant) REPORTING TO: Coalition Leadership Team (CLT), and administratively reports to Project Director LOCATION: Guwahati, Assam LENGTH OF ASSIGNMENT: Fixed Term Contract COMPENSATION: Commensurate with qualifications and experience The Population Council Consulting Private Ltd. (PC Consulting) in partnership with AskNivi Private Limited and Sitaram Bhartia Institute of Science and Research, is looking for a Communication Specialist to implement a project that aims to contribute to a reduction in maternal morbidity and mortality in the State of Assam (SoA) by adapting, testing, and scaling up a digital marketplace approach Scope of Work The Communication Specialist will play an important role in implementing the communications strategy and will provide support in content creation, stakeholder management, and managing the overall communications portfolio for PCC. The incumbent must be a self-starter, self-driven learner, relish co-creating with a team, and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills. They must possess a keen eye for detail, planning, and organization. The ideal candidate should be able to toggle adeptly between working independently and in a team. Major Responsibilities . Contribute to the development of and implement a cohesive communications strategy, which includes envisioning and designing activities for building a movement to power project’s mission, creating and implementing stakeholder, media and social media strategies for the project. . Manage and coordinate communication activities of the project in the state and project districts.Manage internal and external communication for the project. .Manage and coordinate communication activities of the project in the state and project districts. . Develop, launch and manage in-person and virtual events independently. . Support the project team in promotional and marketing activities both online and offline. . Take lead in the development of project communication materials. . Train district project team on implementation of the communication and marketing strategies of the project. . Be the focal person for the project in the state and coordinate communication activities with all project partners and government officials. . Support in the preparation & submission of progress reports, Best Practices, success stories, Case Studies and any other report required by the senior project staff. . Be the key knowledge translation personnel for the project. . Establish and support relationships with key external stakeholder groups through personalised meetings and outreach, especially with the press and influential media and social media partners, in the state and project districts. Key Working Relationships . Position reports to: Coalition Leadership Team on all project related matters, and to Project Director at PC Consulting administratively. . Position directly supervises: The project team of PC Consulting, coalition staff and other monitoring staff. . Position coordinates partnerships and relationships with both public and private health sectors, and the other project stakeholders. Education: . Post Graduate degree in Public Health /communication/ Social Work/Development/Development studies/Rural Development/Rural Management/Women . Studies, or Other Social Sciences discipline or Management. Experience: Individual with at least 5 years of experience in undertaking communication and knowledge translation activities in development sector Effective planning and organization skills Skilled in managing social media and digital platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and CMS like WordPress, Expression Engine etc.) Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Practical knowledge of digital marketing skills like SEO, Google Ads, Google Analytics. Well versed with graphic design tools like Canva, Photoshop etc. Well versed with different email platforms. Competencies Ability to communicate insights and knowledge across various teams and stakeholders. Should be interested to work with the rural poor to create a more inclusive society. Should be familiar with health program in the state. A Self-starter and a target-oriented person. Willing to travel extensively in the state as needed. Cross-cultural communications, including English proficiency and ability to work in a bilingual environment (English and Assam native language). Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision. Ability to work under time pressure and meet deadlines. Excellent written and communication skills in English. Languages Required: Fluency in English, Assamese, and local language – spoken, read and write for all official communication is essential.
