B. JOB DESCRIPTION
a. Job purpose: Overall implementation of projects in select districts of Assam

b. Reporting to: State Coordinator and Technical Expert (Gender and Bio diversity), Assam.

c. Key tasks and sector-specific responsibilities:

i. The Associate Project Lead (APL) must participate and support in the overall implementation of projects in select districts of Assam which will also include project budget utilization and documentation of every aspect of project cycle.

ii. The APL is expected to provide resources, knowledge, skills, services, and appropriate technical inputs on issues of natural resource management, agro-ecological farming techniques, local food systems, establishment of community seed banks, food security, agroecology for ecologically sustainable livelihood;

iii. APL will represent the organisation at local and national meetings with both government and non-government agencies to facilitate women’s access to various schemes and policies;

iv. APL must develop strong monitoring tools to ensure best results and compliances in the Project.

v. Women and youth are drivers of this project. APL will work closely with diverse tribal/non-tribal /ethnic groups.

In undertaking the above role and position, the person will be expected to comply with any policies and procedures that NEN may issue.

C. PERSON SPECIFICATION

a. Educational Qualifications
• Essential: Post Graduation in the biological sciences or conservation/environmental management
• Desirable: Post Graduation in Environmental Science and Gender Studies

b. Experience
• Essential: Minimum two (2) years’ experience in gender, climate and/or environmental justice; ability to ensure a gender perspective in the scope of work
• Desirable:Working with the grassroots organisations in the North East Region

c. Skills, Aptitude and/or Personality
• Essential: Knowledge of web and computer-based applications such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Google Workspace, and other related applications
• Desirable: Open to learning and constructive criticism, team work and professional integrity at all times
• Any other: Adherence to NEN policies, compliance-related requirements, and work ethic

Associate Project Lead

Location: Assam

Project Goal: Fostering sustained women’s agency and community resilience towards Gender, Climate, and Environmental Justice in 3 states of Northeast India.

Key Responsibilities:
The Associate Project Lead (APL) must ensure overall implementation of project activities in alignment with Project goals in select districts of Assam. Implementation also includestimely project budget utilization and providing documentation supportto the Project Lead for every aspect of the project cycle.
The APL is expected to provide resources, knowledge, skills, and appropriate technical inputs on issues of natural resource management, agro-ecological farming techniques, local food systems, establishment of community seed banks, food security, etc. towards ecologically sustainable livelihoods;
APL will represent the organisation at local and national meetings with both government and non-government agencies to facilitate women’s access to various schemes and policies;

The APLmust support the Project Lead and State Coordinator in developing strong monitoring tools to ensure bestresults and compliances in the said project.
Women and youth are drivers of this project. The APL will work closely with diverse tribal/non-tribal/ethnic groups in the state.

Essential qualifications and experience:

Post Graduate Degree in the biological sciences or conservation/environmental management from a recognised institute;
Minimum 2 years’ experiencesof working in grassroots organisations in the northeast region on gender, climate and environmental justice is an added value;
Ability to ensure gender perspective in the scope of work;
Practiced in web and computer-based applications and operations;
Ability and willingness to travel to and live in rural areas.

Remuneration: Minimum Rs 30,000/- per month. Negotiable based on work experience/qualification.

Language proficiency: Fluency in English and Assamese (spoken and written) are mandatory.

Duration of Project: 2022-2025
