JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE : Accountant/Sr. Accountant/Project Manager -Accounts

REPORTING TO : Head – Finance and Accounts

LOCATION : Guwahati, Assam

FES invites applications from Accounts and finance Personnel who have a passion and commitment to take up challenging roles.

Sr.No PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential functions but not exhaustive):
1 Maintenance of Books of Accounts and required subsidiary records at Team level (branch office) and Ensuring adherence of all relevant policy, procedures and guidelines issued by organization.
2 Review and Verification of supporting documents/bills as per guideline issued by Coordination office (Head office), Coordinate and resolve the query related to the financial supporting documents.
3 Coordinate with FES Coordination office Accounts staff on payments, various Accounts and finance functions and Assist to FES Coordination office Accounts staff on various accounting matters related to team.
4 Follow up for all financial transactions, Periodic review, monitoring and settlement of outstanding accounts and reconciliation of the same.
5 Ensure to comply specific requirements and maintain financial records and reports for project(s) and assist in the preparation of periodic variance report on budget Vs actual monitoring of donors’ projects for submission at all levels, in consultation with local Program team & Donor Reporting in Accounts at CO.
6 Responsible for compliance on statutory matters like, Income Tax, Professional Tax, Foreign Contribution Regulation Act etc. and intimate to the Coordination Office (CO) for related payments.
7 Handling internal audit, statutory audit and external audit (donor agency audit) of books of accounts. Timely resolution and compliances of audit observations and Monitoring the fund status with bank balances, banking operations and team level fund management.
8 To facilitate the team level purchases and ensure that the laid down purchase procedure, documentation, purchase committee note, processing / approval protocols and monitor contract administration are followed.
9 Maintain & update records and physical verification of Assets & Equipment at team level and Taking up any other task as deemed fit or as assigned by the reporting officer from time to time.
10 To conduct monitoring visits of local partners and field area/project area as required Assist team members/local level partners on accounting procedures and finance related documentation and compliances.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES:
–Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Management Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
–Minimum 4 years of experience in accounts/ finance/ audit functions
–Prior experience of working with non-profit sector is preferable
–Experience in handling routine accounting matters and compliances
–Basic knowledge of the fundamentals of accounting, management control and relevant thematic knowledge.
–Knowledge of Laws, Statute, Rules, Regulations and compliances relevant to functioning of an NGO
–Demonstrated behavioral competencies of Gender, Diversity and Inclusion.
–Ability to interact harmoniously and effectively with others, focusing upon the attainment of organizational goals and objectives, through a commitment to teamwork.
–Able to meet deadlines and adapt to changing conditions;
–Experience of working with Cloud based Management Software or Enterprise Resource Planning system, MS Office – Word, Excel, Power Point.
–Multi-tasking, problem solving ability, communication skills – written and oral.

PREFERENCES:
–Master’s Degree in Accounting, Management Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
–Experience in a donor-funded projects with compliances of FCRA, Income Tax Act etc.
