![]() Job Title; MHPSS Specialist Position Reports To Head – Anti Child Trafficking Group Programs Department Operations Team Anti Child Trafficking Location Kolkata Next up Manager Senior Director – Programs Direct Reports NIL Indirect Reports NIL Financial Accountability Primary Purpose of Job To provide trauma-informed mental health and psycho social support services (MHPSS) to child survivors of sex trafficking and other CNCPs vulnerable to sex trafficking living in GOVT/NGO shelter homes. To establish MPHSS case management system in shelter homes for the clients enrolled in WV India case management system and streamline recovery and rehabilitation services; To provide group counselling and other psycho-social interventions to children living in red-light areas vulnerable to sexual exploitation; To build the capacity of Child Care Institutions (both Govt and NGOs) to provide quality mental health services to children-in-need-of-care-and-protection (CNCP) To contribute to any research and documentation efforts undertaken by WV India related to mental health component in aftercare Key Deliverables: 1 CASE MANAGEMENT & MHPSS SERVICES & DOCUMENTATION Maintain cordial relationship with Government agencies and partner NGOs operating shelter home for girls and secure full cooperation; Select a cohort of survivors of sex trafficking and other sexual violence and implement a case management process Admit clients into Case Management System based on referrals from CWC/ partner agencies and obtain necessary consent. Complete all the necessary intake assessment ( trauma/ PTSD or any other assessment required by WV/ government) Maintain comprehensive up-to-date process documentation for case management clients identification proof documents, copy of FIR, CWC order, HIR report, Individual Care Plan, discharge summary and exit assessment; Streamline recovery and rehabilitative services as per the Case Management process; Key Deliverables: 2 MHPSS & other RECOVERY & REHAB Services in SHELTER HOME Implement activity based psychosocial support programs in shelter homes to aid psyhco-social recovery of victims/survivors; Provide individual counselling to clients enrolled in the case management process as per the needs assessment done, on a regular basis until they exit from the case management system; Provide Trauma Focussed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TFCBT) for survivors in the case management process Refer child survivors experiencing extreme trauma to clinical psychologists psycho-therapeutic services; Coordinate and implement Coordinate Life Skills and vocational skills training program in shelter home; Facilitate legal aid, emergency medical care and other services should any of the child victims of sex trafficking and other SGBV require; Provide pre-reintegration counselling for care givers and build their capacity of caregivers to provide Trauma Informed Care (TiC) Monitor any work undertaken by the project to keep shelter homes child friendly; Build the capacity of caregivers in shelter homes; Key Deliverables: 3 SUPPORT OTHER NON-INSTITUTIONAL MHPSS INTERVENTIONS OF THE PROJECT Provide psychological first-aid counselling to the victims, referred through the project online Reporting & Referral channels; Provide technical support to field teams in MHPSS component in the training programs organized for first responders; Support field teams to establish and robust reporting & referral system in CFLRCs/Night shelter to identify children needing MHPSS services and provide the same on a time-bound manner; Train drop-in-centre facilitators & care takers in night shelter to identify children in distress and provide mental health support Support field teams in organizing quarterly group counselling sessions for CFLCR adolescent children living in red-light areas; Support reintegration team in conducting trauma screening for survivors enrolled in the survivor support program; Support field teams in providing MHPSS services to survivors enrolled in survivor support program; Support field teams in any other MHPSS interventions undertaken by the project; Key Deliverables: 4 MONITORING DATA, RESEARCH, REPORTS & DOCUMENTATION Maintain monitoring data as per the requirement of the project Submit Monthly Management Report and support preparation of donor reports; Systematically collect, maintain and provide impact stories for quarterly reports, donor-facing reports, publications, etc Coordinate any research conducted on mental health dimension of aftercare Represent organization is public forum, consultations and conferences; Organize state level training programs and advocacy events around aftercare and mental health; Travel Requirement Role Balance Frequency 10 days Locations Siliguri, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, Alipurduar and Assam People – percentage of time getting things done through others 20% Scheduling – planning, coordinating 10% Technical – delivering based on knowledge and skills 60% Key Accountabilities Measured by Time Spent on each KPI MHPSS Case management system Functional and up-to date case management system in the shelter home where we work # of children registered /processed through case management system % Quality of MPHSS Services # of children provided individual counselling # of children provided TFCBT # of children provided emergency clinical therapy / medical services provided # of children provided legal aid to complete the legal processes # of care takers trained in basic MHPSSS Technical Support to field teams Quality of technical support to field teams in MHPSS interventions Documentation # Success / impact stories or Most Significant Change story documented # of research reports / donor-facing materials published Role Requirement Skills (the leadership skills to do the job) Counselling skills Documentation skills Networking and partnership skills Knowledge & Qualifications (the specific qualifications and knowledge required) MSW (Psychiatric Social Worker) (Or) MA /MSC (Psychology) (Or) Graduate in any discipline with a diploma in MHPSS or related field or exposure to mental health programs; Language: Bengali reading and writing is a MUST Ability to use appropriate clinical, diagnostic and treatment planning terminology with clients, and referral agencies. General knowledge of the Diagnostic Standards Manual classification system and ability to identify psycho-social disorders; Keen awareness in current trends, best practices in addressing psychological outcomes of violence including Trauma Informed Care.
