Salary/Stipend: Rate of stipend payable to apprentices per month shall be as prescribed under Apprentices Act, 1961/1973/ Apprentices Rules 1992 (as amended) and Corporation’s guidelines.

Educational Qualification:

  • Trade Apprentice – Attendant Operator (Chemical Plant): 3 years B.Sc (Maths, Physics, Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry)
  • Trade Apprentice (Fitter): Matric with ITI in Fitter Trade of minimum 2 years duration with Pass class.
  • Trade Apprentice (Boiler): 3 years B Sc. (Maths, Physics, Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry).
  • Technician Apprentice Discipline – Chemical: 3 years Diploma in Chemical Engg./Petrochemical Engg./Chemical Technology / Refinery and Petrochemical Engg.
  • Technician Apprentice Discipline – Mechanical: 3 years Diploma in Mechanical Engg.
  • Technician Apprentice Discipline – Electrical: 3 years Diploma in Electrical Engg. / Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  • Technician Apprentice Discipline- Instrumentation: 3 years Diploma in Instrumentation Engg/ Instrumentation & Electronics/ Instrumentation & Control Engg, / Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering
  • Trade Apprentice-Secretarial Assistant: 3 years B.A./B.Sc/B.Com .
  • Trade Apprentice-Accountant: 3 years B.Com.
  • Trade Apprentice-Data Entry Operator (Fresher Apprentices): Class XII pass.
  • Trade Apprentice-Data Entry Operator (Skill Certificate Holders): Class XII pass with Skill Certificate holder in Domestic Data Entry Operator.

Qualification criteria:

  • The candidate should have already passed the prescribed qualification as on date of reckoning eligibility criteria. Candidates whose result of the qualifying examination is awaited as on date of reckoning eligibility criteria are not eligible to apply.
  • The prescribed qualification for Class XII / Graduate / Diploma holders should be from a recognized Board/ University/ Institute as a regular full time course in the relevant trade/discipline with minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST and PwBD category candidates for the seats reserved for them) in aggregate. Wherever CGPA/OGPA or Letter Grade is awarded in the Class XII/ ITI (Fitter)/Degree/Diploma examinations, its equivalent aggregate percentage of marks must be indicated in the On-line Application as per the norms adopted by Board/University/Institute. Candidates will have to furnish certificate from the concerned University/Institute regarding the equivalent aggregate percentage of marks with reference to their CGPA/OGPA or Letter Grade at the time of document verification failing which their candidature will not be considered.
  • For ITI qualification in the relevant trade, eligibility shall be pass marks. Only regular full time ITI course recognised by NCVET/SCVT shall be considered.
  • Diploma / Graduation/ ITI in Branch / Subjects as specified against respective Trade/ Discipline above will ONLY be considered as eligible qualification. Diploma / Graduation/ ITI in other than specified Branch / Subjects shall not be considered.
  • No Claim of possession of a qualification equivalent to a prescribed qualification shall be entertained.

How to Apply for IOCL Recruitment 2025

Interested and eligible candidates need to apply online for IOCL Posts through the official IOCL Recruitment Portal. Candidates may follow below mentioned steps to apply online.

Phase I:

  • Candidates are advised to register as a Technician/ Trade Apprentice online in the following portals under the respective State as per their Trades below:
    • Trade Apprentice – ITI/Data Entry Operator at https://www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in/
    • Technician Apprentice – Diploma at https://nats.education.gov.in/student_register.php
  • Candidates have to select the Apprenticeship Opportunities in the top menu. Then select in search column location as per IOCL and select the respective trade. This will prompt to login the site with the basic details. Follow the steps given by the portal and complete the registration.
  • Candidates are therefore advised to furnish the details in the portal carefully and check the same before final submission.

Phase II:

After applying against an opportunity in the respective NAPS/NATS Portal, the candidate must MANDATORITY complete their registration/application for apprentice positions in Indian Oil Refineries Division portal at www.iocrefrecruit.in. Option for exercising the choice of a Refinery unit has been provided in the application menu .

IOCL Earlier Recruitment Notification

1. Junior Operator

No of posts: 215 Posts

Vacancy for Assam: 10 Posts

Salary: Grade I (Rs. 23,000-78,000/-)

Educational Qualification: Matric (Class X) pass and 2 (Two) years ITI pass in the specified ITI trades mentioned below and Trade Certificate/ National Trade Certificate (NTC) issued by SCVT/NCVT:

  • Electronics Mechanic
  • Instrument Mechanic
  • Instrument Mechanic (Chemical Plant)
  • Electrician
  • Machinist
  • Fitter
  • Mechanic-cum-Operator Electronics Communication System
  • Wireman
  • Mechanic Industrial Electronics
  • Information Technology & ESM

Work Experience: Minimum one year post qualification work experience in the relevant field (excluding training) in a factory/ manufacturing organization. Apprentice training under Apprentice Act after two-year regular course of ITI will be considered as experience subject to production of National Apprentice certificate issued / recognized by NCVT / NCVET.

2. Junior Attendant/ Grade I

No of posts: 23 Posts

Salary: Grade I (Rs. 23,000-78,000/-)

Educational Qualification: Higher Secondary (Class XII) with minimum of 40% marks in aggregate in case of PwBD candidates [as per relaxed standard].

Work Experience: Work experience is not mandatory.

3. Junior Business Assistant/ Grade III

No of posts: 23 Posts

Salary: Grade III / (Rs. 25,000-1,05,000/-)

Educational Qualification: Graduate in any discipline with minimum 45% marks in aggregate in case of PwBD candidates from a recognized Institute/ University with Basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel & Power Point and relaxed typing speed of 20 words per minute (WPM) [as per relaxed standard].

Work Experience: Minimum one year post qualification work experience (excluding training) in a commercial enterprise/ manufacturing organization /Govt Dept/ PSU. Apprentice training, in the optional trade of Accountant, under Apprentice Act after regular Graduation will be considered as experience subject to production of Certificate of Proficiency issued by Ministry of Education / Govt. of India

Age: Candidate age must be Minimum 18 years and Maximum age shall be 26 years for Un-reserved candidates as on 31-01-2025. for General/EWS candidates. The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidate, 3 years for OBC candidates and 10 years for PwD.

Selection process for IOCL Recruitment 2025

For Junior Operator & Junior Attendant: The selection methodology will comprise Computer Based Test (CBT) and Skill/ Proficiency/Physical Test (SPPT). The SPPT will be of qualifying nature

For Junior Business Assistant: The selection methodology will comprise Computer Based Test (CBT) and Computer Proficiency Test (CPT). The CPT will be of qualifying nature.

  • Computer Based Test (CBT): CBT would be conducted in an objective / multiple choice questions format requiring mouse/click based response. In CBT, there would be no requirement of writing / typing any content while responding to multiple choice questions. The Computer based test will consist of one objective type paper containing 100 questions carrying 1 marks each and the time allotted for completing the CBT is 120 minutes, with the subsequent details as below:
    • For Junior Operator:
      • Section-A: Professional knowledge/ General Science – 50 marks
      • Section-B: Numerical Abilities – 20 marks; Reasoning abilities – 20 marks; General Awareness – 10 marks.
    • For Junior Attendant:
      • Question Paper to have parameters: Numerical Abilities – 40 marks; Reasoning abilities – 40 marks; General Awareness – 20 marks
    • For Junior Business Assistant:
      • Question Paper to have parameters: Numerical Abilities – 40 marks; Reasoning abilities – 30 marks;  General Awareness – 20 marks; Basic English Language skills – 10 marks.
  • Skill/Proficiency/Physical Test (SPPT)/ Computer Proficiency Test (CPT):
    • The Skill/Proficiency/Physical Test (SPPT) for the post of Junior Operator (Grade I), as well as for the post of Junior Attendant (Grade I) [only for PwBD candidates], will comprise of performing task / module, as required, under observation of a Committee on a specified date and venue as intimated.
    • For the post of Junior Business Assistant (Grade III) [only for PwBD candidates], the candidates would have to undertake Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) on basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel & Power Point and carry out the prescribed 10 basic commands in relaxed time of 25 minutes each i.e. total 3 tests with 30 commands in 75 minutes of test time, under relaxed parameters for PwBD. Candidates completing 20 commands shall qualify CPT. This will be undertaken under observation of a Committee on a specified date and venue as intimated.
